When the sisters began their publishing endeavors they desired to help those who wanted to be published and did not know how to proceed.  Amy does the layout and edits the manuscript; Doreyl can illustrate the book cover and if needed, the inside art.  They continue to offer their services at a very reasonable price, not accepting any of the proceeds after the book is published. Estimates are given upfront. With cooperative publishing, the author is in control, receiving 100% of the profit in the sale of the book(s).

To date, CSA has published over 140 books for others, with more on the way. Some of the  books have been very successful, and are now for sale locally within the Great Smoky Mountains National Park gift stores, local bookstores, and on the Qualla Boundary in Western North Carolina. It all depends on the marketing of the author!

The CSABooks.com website was established to also help the first time author have his/her own online outlet. For a minimal fee, the author’s books are placed on his/her own website page, allowing sales through Paypal. Many of CSA authors have gone on to have their own website, or have found other ways of marketing their books.  The authors you find on the website today have found success in marketing through CSABooks.com.

The written word is a powerful thing!  Ammons Communications, with the imprint Catch the Spirit of Appalachia, does cooperative publishing . . . and has been saving the words of authors since 1988.

Catch the Spirit of Appalachia (CSA) is an award-winning nonprofit organization whose main purpose is to honor and preserve all heritage and the natural environment. Sisters Doreyl Ammons Cain and Amy Ammons Garza co-founded CSA and Ammons Communications over 30 years ago, and through the years have found when you really desire to accomplish your mission in life, one of the best ways is to decide what is your personal gift, and work within that gift. Amy writes and teaches creative writing. Doreyl illustrates and teaches art. Together, they are  known as "The Ammons Sisters" a storyteller and spontaneous artist...the left and right brain...who work together telling simple stories of growing up in the mountains and bringing them alive with vivid pastel strokes on two 6 x 4 easels.  They also use this creativity to cooperatively publish books for others.
