Memories and Recipes from the Mountain—Winner of hundreds of First Place blue ribbons for her canning, baking, sewing, photography, arts and crafts, Linda Owen Vinson has shaped her life with her own hands. Her rendition of life amid her cooking represents a single mother doing the best she could for her children, with definite handicaps other people may not have experienced. And in among it all, she created "cathead" biscuits, green beans and 'taters, chicken 'n' dumpling, chicken pot pie, southern fired chicken, fluffy banana pudding...and much more, all mixed with a pinch from the little brown jar. Read the book and find out just what is in that little brown jar! ISBN #0-9651232-9-4

Linda Owen Vinson, author of “A Pinch from the Little Brown Jar,”a storytelling non-fiction mountain cookbook, and "Christmas Blueberry Muffins & Elixir," a fictional Christmas book for children of all ages, has a lifelong history of cooking, making jars of homemade can goods, and sewing. Linda grew up loving to cook, to preserve and to sew. At festivals and bazaars, she sometimes demonstrates a Singer industrial treadle sewing machine, passed down to her from her grandmother Retter Jane Coggins Ammons.

But, what really makes Linda happy is to play Mrs. Claus for children and adults alike. For many years she has visited her elderly neighbors, bringing with her a sack of goodies and a long list of names of those who have been "good" during the year. She insists that those she visits sit in her lap while she throws out the list and reads down until she finds the neighbor's name, so they can receive a gift.

In more current years, at Christmas time she has been booked by retail stores to come in and play Mrs. Claus for all those who visit. With a winning personality, Linda excels in sharing her love with those with whom she comes in contact, and has now begun to write down the stories she tells to the children. "Christmas Blueberry Muffins & Elixir" is only the first of more to come.
